Eagan, MN Rendon Residence
This home is located in the BirchPond subdivision of Eagan and was in need of a large outdoor cooking, dining and gathering space. Excessive change in elevation, privacy, and how to gain functional access to a future addition of a children's play set were ideas collaborated on during the consultation. The design consisted of an outdoor bar, dining area and an outdoor great room backed by a modernistic gas fire place. The raised, rough-sawn cedar pergola with fireplace centered on the dining room helped to balance the outdoor space from inside the home. Black hills spruce, ornamental reflection birch trees and a large crimson maple where incorporated to create privacy. Ornamental columnar spruce, nine bark diablo trees surrounded by seasonal blooming perennials and grasses add character to the garden. Mahogany cobble stone pavers, mohave cultured stone and glacier boulders harmonize the hardscape. Natural stone stairs lead to a shaded garden filled with hydrangea trees and shade bearing perennials that soften a path to an upper lawn space that will one day house a play set. Irrigation was added to the planting beds to reduce maintenance during the hot summer months.
