Durand, WI Bauer Residence
This project is located in Durand, Wisconsin. The client requested recreational spaces to include a swimming pool, putting green, children's play area and a good sized usable lawn space. The design challenge was how to best blend these areas with casual entertaining. The design balanced the covered great room, dinning table, sunbathing and sitting area in a functional manner to accommodate family and friends. The pine and spruce trees in the garden are consistent with the natural surroundings, complemented by many blooming perennials and a boxwood hedge to formalize the outdoor dining space. Flag stone laid in the lawn leads to the finished lower level, and entertaining space in the basement of the home. Columns with lanterns provide a beautiful night ambiance and help balance the hard scape elements. Mosaic cobble stone walls were needed to create the large levels areas as well as create a sunken semi-hidden spa. Rip rap rock was incorporated along with mulch and limestone to bed the gardens, control water run off and prevent weeds. Limestone boulder settings add interest and support the the natural elements of the area. The swimming pool was designed as a 22' + 44' with a full length step and large shallow end, to best accommodate the family and their children. Textured colored concrete surrounds the pool and the floor of the outdoor great room is made up of cobble stone pavers.
